Trouble connecting to the Internet.

If you use an external modem, confirm it is turned on and properly connected. Refer to the user manual supplied with the modem for further instructions.

To avoid connection drop out, the Call Waiting feature on your home phone should be disabled prior to Internet dial-up.

To permanently turn off Call Waiting, press #43# on your home phone keypad.

To suppress Call Waiting while the Internet is being used, type *44 before the 0198333868 number in your Microsoft Windows settings.

Note: Optus home phone customers may need to type #87 before the 0198333868 number to suppress Call Waiting.

You may have misspelled the username or password or typed them in capital letters. Confirm you have the correct password and that Caps Lock on the keyboard is not selected. As the password is case sensitive an error message is displayed if capital letters are typed instead of lowercase and vice versa.

Confirm your modem settings to ensure the Wait for dial tone check box is not ticked. Refer to the Disable DUI Dial Tone user guide, for your Operating System, for step by step instructions.

Confirm the 0198333868 number in your Microsoft Windows settings is correct and the Use area code and Dialling Properties check box is not ticked. Refer to the DUI Connection and Dropout Troubleshooting user guide, for your Operating System, for step by step instructions.

If you have Message bank Home, or Message bank Advanced, connection to the Internet may not be possible if messages are waiting to be retrieved. Retrieve all messages before attempting to reconnect to the internet.

Your modem may have incorrect speed settings. For 56K modems, change the speed to 57,600bps or 38,400bps. Refer to the Reduce Modem Speed user guide for your Operating System, for step by step instructions.
